Let's talk about Kasparov

Was I too busy over the past year, may be? May be not! as my friend from Manchester used to say. I think I was little bit lazy, or not motivated enough. Ok, let's put these things behind and go through this game. I studied this game for the first time many years ago, may be in 1986 or 1987 I realy do not remember. But I am sure that this was my first book about chess, it was written in Arabic for "Al Ostaz" or the Master Hassan Khaled, who is known as Chess Godfather in Egypt. He is not a Grand Master but he trained the young generation to acheive this title. Thus, Ahmed Adly, Bassem Amin and the young princess Mona Khaled are the fruites on his chess tree.
Unfortunately, I do not have games for Mr. Hassan Khaled, however, I am planning to publish some games for Ahmed Adly very soon.
Back to this book "Garry Kasparov the miracle of chess", it covered the early years of his career till 1985 before he takes the crown. This is one of the fine games that shows Garry's agrressive attacking style and his intiativity.

Garry Kasparov – Bigun
Skolosky Memorial, Minsk 1978

1- d4 d5 2- c4 e6 3- Nc3 Nf6 4- Nf3 c5 5- cd Nxd5 6- e3 Nc6 7- Bd3 Be7 8- 0-0 0-0 9- Nxd5 Qxd5 10- e4 Qd8 effective and better is 10- … Qh5
11- dc Bxc4 12- e5 … this move gives white advantage not only because of the threat of Qc2, but also it makes difficult to develop Black's pieces.

12- … Be7 13- Qe2 Nb4 14- Bb1 Bd7 15- a3 Nd5 16- Qe4 g6 17- Bh6 Re8 18- h4 Qb6 19- h5! f5 20- ef (ep) Nxf6 21- Qe1! The first surprise

21- … Nxh5 22- Ne5! Bb5 23- Bxg6!! The second surprise, which kills the black's dream to hold his position 23- … Nf6
Unfortunately, black can not play 23- hg 24- Qe4 Bf8 25- Qxg6+ Ng7 26- Ng4 and the end is clear. Black can not defend Ng6+ followed by Qh7 # . Black's Qd8 will cost him at least his queen. 24- Bxh7!! Black resigns 0 - 1

The last surprise that strikes all black's defenses. A cunning, confident and accurate move, now there is nothing on earth can stop white of penetrating the weak diagonal b1- h7 to mate the black King in his castle.
If 24- … Kxh7 then, 25- Qb1+ and if 24- … Nxh7 then, 25- Qb4. Thus, mate will follow in no more than 3 moves. This game is a great tactical lesson of the 14 years old Garry.
